Does anyone know when the wifi links will become available? *waiting patiently*
we had a batch in on monday but they sold out in less than a day due to the demand.
I appreciate it is quite annoying – we have had large delays with production due to sourcing components which kept going on and on.
They are producing them now and 500 more are due in the next few weeks (sorry cant be more specific). Once we get this first big batch in we wont have anymore shortages – it is just because it is a brand new product and we have been caught out by the amount of interest – things are starting to move now honest !
Wish I’d known, I’d have grabbed one from that first batch.
I thought we were going to get a sneaky heads-up before they arrived. ley” />” title=”Smile” />
yeah i know i did say that im sorry
they were so much in demand that i had to give them to people who had been waiting from the start of this year. I promise you guys will get first offer of the next lot – we shouldnt have a shortage then anyway.
I am trying to get another advanced batch in for a week or two from now which i will let you know about. Everything is just very new at the moment so we are only just getting up to speed with the products.
No worries, I’m busy with lots of other stuff anyway (just set up a media player and linked it to my NAS, working very nicely now).
Any news on when the product range may go mainstream retail by the way? I know there were discussions taking place with the same ‘large DIY chain’ that carried other previous products, not sure if anything has come of that yet though?
Damn, I have been checking in pretty much daily to get my hands on one! Thanks for the promise of a heads up when the next batch comes in.
Good to see lots of people interested in the product.
Been waiting for this for quite some time. Just realized that the price just got hiked but still no stock… Used to be £60 ish when I first saw it in an exhibition. Looking quite pricey now for what it does.
Will there be an API or an open protocol for communicating with the Wifi link? If we want to write our own iPhone/iPad or any other platform app will it be possible without any reverse engineering?
yeah promise you guys will get the next lot (honest this time) there just weren’t enough to go around with the first lot. There wont be a supply problem after that.
We are now signed up with two very major high street retailers which should be taking stock about a month from now. Sadly cant quite name them yet although our products are being bought and branded by Siemens in one instance so look out for that (all functionality will be the same). Part of the supply problem is due to us getting things ready for retail – just not enough resources to go around at the moment!
No open protocol at this point in time unfortunately – we want to establish our brand first and get people to buy into our products rather than interfacing with others at first.
Due to the huge demand for the wifilink we have decided to put the price up a bit. This was on the basis of the fact that we otherwise are not making a lot of return on it, and for the level of functionality we believe that it is still very very inexpensive. We are also finding that when we have done our first few large installs, some customers are suspicious of the technology due to the much lower cost compared to conventional means(!). Slightly higher price reflects the capability of the wifi link.
Ouch, that did go up a bit didn’t it! I don’t suppose those folks who expressed an interest in being informed here when the product was coming back into stock will be able to order it at the original price will they? (he asks cheekily)
im sure i could arrange something…
Thanks, I’m sure that will be appreciated.
Good to know mainstream retail will be getting the range soon by the way, will the Siemens branded versions still use the green-circle logo to indicate product compatibility?
yes – everyone that uses sells or brands our products has to include the lightwave symbol to show that it is compatible with other lightwave products."AlexS":3ru6sjuu wrote:

Awaiting arrangements ;P
As for the open protocol, I was not referring to an API for interfacing with other technologies. I was asking if there is an API/Protocol for interfacing with the Wifi Link. TCP/UDP or whatever it uses (I dont have one yet! ” title=”Razz” /> ).
I was asking in order to figure out if we can have custom apps/software controlling everything. We will still need your hardware!
i see sorry i get you now
technically possible yes – in fact our software engineers are planning to build in an api interface so that you would be able to drive the wifilink from an independent application. In terms of when that will be complete im not sure ill have to find out, however, it certainly can be done. Give us a call if you have any questions about that no problem.
wifi links arriving end of this week – hopefully friday!
