So I wanted to control my Gazco Fireplace using my LightwaveRF app and Alexa. It has a 433MHz remote control but obviously its own protocol / commands.
I built a little 433MHz protocol converter using Raspberry Pi and 433MHz RX and TX modules, and my LightwaveRF 433MHz libraries.
The program listens for LightwaveRF messages and when it hears on/off for a on/off switch I added to the App then it transmits on/off to the fireplace using Gazco protocol
Details are at https://github.com/roberttidey/lightwave2Gazco
So now we can say “Alexa: Turn Lounge fireplace On’ (or Off)
Technique can be generalised to control other types of appliances in this way.
Just stumbled on to this. This looks awesome!!!
Could you provide more details for the technical idiots among us.
A step by step list would be brilliant.
I’ve never programmed a Raspberry Pi, is this a program I could run just on my PC? (if so, how?)
Can the 433Mhz protocol converters be bought? Or would I have to try and build one the same as you did?
