I’ve been a lightwaverf user right from the beginning and have stuff all over the house. I have stuck with them over the year despite
all the incorrect instructions and lack of support and the many many broken promises, so it was with great interest that I got my hands
on their heating thermostat and boiler switch the missing link in my automation.

However after a very brief play it be came apparent that unless you have the most basic of boiler controls the system is pretty useless
and offers little more than the capability to switch your boiler on and off and adjust the house temperatures remotely, where as almost all
decent boiler controls now offer weather compensation and very advanced boiler modulation that allows heating curves to be customized
to suit your house and keep the boiler running at the most efficient it can at all times.

The new radiator valves are noisy and a silent TRV valve will do the same job at half the price and lets be honest, how often are you going to want to adjust the room temps. The only real advantage that I can see is the ability to switch the heating off if your late coming home and (this needs to be checked) you should be able to achieve the same thing be connecting a lightwaverf relay on the remote thermostat connection on your boiler.

With so many really good heating controls like Nest or Hive available with advanced settings that learn your habits and can even automatically
switch the heating on and off based on your GPS position as well as using all the advances in boiler control rather than the basic on off that the lightwaverf system relies on the only reason I can see to use the lightwaverf heating system is to keep all the automation in one app. Given lightwaverf’s terrible history of not maintaining and the lack of functionality their app’s like there are still only 6 slots per room and the older versions of Ipads have not been supported with the heating update yet even after the launch of the hardware even this is not a convincing argument.

Sorry this has turned into a bit of a rant but I had great hopes of lightwaverf being the greatest thing since sliced bread in the world of retro fitting home automation and unfortunately they seem to have taken every opportunity to shoot themselves in the foot. From broken promises and missed deadlines, to signing up installers only to start selling to the public at the same or even cheaper price they have taken every chance to hurt themselves. Bringing out this latest heating thermostat after all this time that is so basic as to be a very bad choice for any body that want to save on their heating is just more of the same.

This isn’t the best place to come and try to sell LWRF heating products.

Have you read the recent posts? :)

Running RFXCom with Domoticz on raspberry pi3. LWRF dimmer switches, PIRs and plug sockets. Some Homeeasy switches, harmony hub controlling AV and air con. Geofencing with Pilot app. Tado for heating and cooling.
