I have 9 ceiling mounted GU10′s in the kitchen, and I want to remove two of them as I’m going to add some other form of lighting (Using Lightwave) instead.

Can I just remove the transformers, terminate the wires into a junction box and plaster over the holes? Or would this be a bad idea?

Just to note – I don’t need to use the existing wiring for the new lighting I’m putting in, as this is entirely separate.

    GU10 with transformers? Surely they’re MR16s.

Personally I’d take out the cables that run between the two lights and their neighbours, and run a single cable between the neighbouring lights instead. Much neater.
